Every year, the insurer that provides your campervan insurance must write to you and let you know how much your cover is going to be for the next 12 months. In that communication they will also inform you how much you have been paying for the previous year. What do you do with that correspondence?
Unfortunately, there will probably be quite a few owners of campervans who don’t pay a great deal of attention to such paperwork and just pop it in a drawer. This is despite the fact that it is more than likely that the renewal premium is going to go up.
We would encourage campervan owners to spend a little time and see if they can get the same level of adequate cover cheaper from a different insurer. This is quite easy to do by using the likes of a price comparison website. With the cost of living being so high at the moment we are sure you will agree anything that you can do to lower or even contain your outgoings has got to be welcomed.
After the pandemic, the likes of car insurance premiums started to go to record levels but over the last 9 months or so premiums have, on average, stared to come down. This is borne out by the data contained within the Confused.com Car Insurance Price Index that is produced on a quarterly basis.
For instance, in the third quarter of 2024, premiums for insuring a car averaged £861 per annum. Go back to the second quarter of 2024 and premiums averaged £882 per annum. In the first quarter of this year average car insurance premiums were even higher at £941 per annum. However, in the last quarter of 2023, average car insurance premiums hit a record level of £995 per annum.
Whilst the above index relates to car insurance it is quite possible that a similar pattern may have been seen when it comes to campervan insurance premiums. So, when your campervan cover is coming up for renewal, why not get in touch with us to obtain a competitive quotation without any obligation to proceed.
