Why Are People Attracted To Living In Campervans

There are no doubt a number of reasons why some people decide to live in a campervan. One of the reasons is that the cost of buying a house or renting a home has increased significantly in the last few years with interest rates having risen significantly over the past 2 to 3 years resulting in higher mortgage repayments. With increased mortgage costs, some landlords have felt it necessary to put up rent charges.

So, this has resulted in some people deciding to look for a cheaper alternative. Yes, younger people could potentially move back in with their parents but that would mean giving up a lot of their independence. Therefore, some have opted to purchase the likes of a campervan and live in it on a permanent basis.

Obviously, the capital outlay for a campervan is considerably lower than that of buying a bricks and mortar property even taking into account possibly having to spend some monies to renovate and adapt a campervan to make it more suitable for daily living.

Living in a campervan is likely to appeal more to single people and couples although some with say a small family may also switch to van life. This is because you have less floor space in a campervan than in a traditional residential property.

The daily up keep of living in a campervan is going to be quite a bit less than that of living in say a 2 bedroomed-terraced property. It is quite possible that even if you choose to park your campervan on a campsite that the pitch fees will be less than you would have to pay out in rental or mortgage payments each month. The heating costs will no doubt be less for a campervan than the cost of heating a 3 bedroomed semi detached house.

Yes, you will have the maintenance costs of a campervan such as servicing, MOT and upkeep of the bodywork but these should be an awful lot less than the maintenance costs of a house, flat or bungalow.

Lets not forget that, potentially, a campervan also gives you the opportunity to move it to different locations in the UK and perhaps even in Europe. This would mean that you could enjoy a somewhat nomadic lifestyle that may appeal to quite a number of people. Nowadays, if you are able to work from home by using the Internet, then you may be able to do this from a variety of locations as long as you have a good Internet connection.

If we have whetted your appetite for living permanently in a campervan then why not do some further research to establish if it is a viable proposition for you.
